Programs
Our clinic uses neuroscience-based therapies; that is, therapies that affect how the brain processes information. The therapies are designed to correct underlying problem areas, thereby providing permanent solutions to academic difficulties. Programs offered include:
- Brain Fitness.
Brain Fitness is designed to address the slowdown in mental function that often occurs with age. It is intended to be used by adults of any age, including senior citizens. Learn More
- Fast ForWord.
Fast ForWord is a computer-based therapy developed to address difficulties with auditory processing, following conversation and spoken instruction, and reading fluency. Learn More
- Interactive Metronome.
IM addresses difficulties with brain timing that affect attention, impulsive behaviors, organization, reading fluency, and physical control and coordination. Learn More
- Lindamood Phonemic Sequencing
LIPS remediates difficulties with phonemic awareness, the ability to judge sounds within words. Individuals with phonemic awareness difficulties often add, leave out, substitute, and reverse sounds and letters. This problem makes it difficult to use phonics with reading and spelling. Learn More
- Master the Code.
MTC instructs and provides intense practice in mastering the patterns of reading and spelling; both how letters are used to produce sound combinations and how sound combinations are represented by letters.
- Processing and Cognitive Enhancement.
PACE establishes and strengthens dozens of underlying processing skills required for efficient and accurate learning. The program requires individuals to operate outside of their “comfort zone,” thus increasing the speed and efficiency with which they do their work. Learn More
- Scotopic Sensitivity/Irlen Syndrome.
SSIS involves difficulties with visual perception—how the brain perceives and processes visual information. Individuals with SSIS often see the printed page differently from normal readers. SSIS may cause eyestrain, inattention, and frustration with reading, math, and other classroom tasks. Learn More
- Seeing Stars.
Seeing Stars helps students who have difficulty with symbol imagery, remembering the visual patterns of words. The individual may be able to use phonics, but has trouble with words that do not play by phonetic rules or that should be recognized by sight. Learn More
- Visualizing and Verbalizing.
V/V develops and refines skills in verbal and written expression, following multiple-step directions, and reading comprehension, including such high-level skills as finding the main idea, drawing conclusions, and making inferences. Long-term memory and expressive language skills are also improved. Learn More
- Close-point Vision.
Close-point vision tests are designed to indicate the presence of certain visual deficiencies that primarily cause difficulty at reading distance. These difficulties, which are often unrelated to common problems with visual acuity, can affect reading speed, accuracy, and comprehension and may also contribute to problems with attention and fatigue.
